In a vast country like India, with demographic diversity, the GIS promises immense opportunities. GIS has a significant role in creating a new India. The usage of GIS-based applications helps the government at both state and country level in programme implementation, monitoring, and management. programme started by the government for town planning, agriculture, water management, environmental protection, and healthcare. Today, most of the data comes from the loTs and other means. This data is collab with the GIS system and is used by the government for identification of areas that require more support, delivery of service, and monitoring of progress. GIS also helps governments to improve their competitiveness and ease of doing business. Indians assume more GIS-based portals will be launched in 2022 for information sharing among government departments and with citizens.
